    Registrations for the Widephoto workshops in Barcelona with Taiyo Onorato & Nico Krebs (1, 2, 3 March) and Mishka Henner (5, 6, 7 April) are now open!

    Widephoto offers a program of learning, exchange and debate around innovative proposals in the field of contemporary photography. For that reason, we invite well versed curators and theoreticians to give specially developed presentations, design practice-oriented workshops by photographers who have stood out due to their innovative work process’ and organize informal gatherings around a dinning table to share that knowledge in a relaxed and closer way.

    Widephoto is a new initiative by Meeatings23 and Jon Uriarte that bets on new key players, on the evolution of contents and on the experimentation in the various forms by which they are produced, shared and spread. (mehr …)

    The Most Beautiful Books Australia & New Zealand (‘MBBANZ’) award program has been established to recognise innovation and excellence in book design and publishing in Australia and New Zealand. This biennial award program welcomes entries of all types, but the program seeks to emphasise the most innovative contemporary book design and publishing activity in Australia and New Zealand, including titles from independent and small press publishers. Importantly, the program seeks to minimise barriers to entry: there are no entry fees, and books may be nominated for consideration not only by designers and publishers, but also by readers and collectors.     PiK is a limited edition magazine dedicated to promoting photographers worldwide.

    Created in 2012, PiK constitutes a platform where the work of recognised Photographers and those of emerging talents converge. Each issue is part of a limited edition, 100 copies, so as to maintain a certain value within the object. To concentrate all the attention of the readers on the photographers, the magazine is independant and advert free. The magazine is available to purchase through the website as well as in a selection of galleries and bookstores. Each photographer will also have the possibility to exhibit images from their series, printed and framed.     „Human Chassis is a Photographic study of the special isolation that links a driver to their vehicle, effecting a unique and introverted process of thought that could only occur in this private sanctuary.“

    I originally wanted to make work on the subject after becoming bored of driving the same routes over and over and over again. I would find myself at a destination with little memory of the journey. I found that really intriguing (as well as terrifying from a road safety standpoint). There is something uniquely private and lonely about being in a car, I really wanted to photograph it. (mehr …)

    Since 4 years the independent photography magazine has been offering a platform for photographs that really mean something. People from all over the world submit their favorite pictures and tell the stories that lie behind them. romka is a collective photo album in which both amateurs and professionals archive their memories. The readers are encouraged to submit their own favorite photographs to participate in the ongoing project.

    Issue 7 collects the most treasured pictures of 58 photographers from 21 countries, ranging from Japan to Belgium and Argentina. No difference is made between amateur hobbyists and renowned photo artists. (mehr …)
